CARLOS JOSÉ FONSECA MARTINS
Born in Tavira, in the Algarve, Carlos Jose Fonseca Martins is a Portuguese artist with an established career in the visual arts. He works across different media, including painting, wood carving, sculpture, and ceramics, developing an artistic practice marked by diversity and continuity over several decades.
With a career spanning more than fifty years, he has presented his work in galleries, biennials, fairs, and exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. His trajectory reflects consistent recognition within both the national and international art scene.
Alongside his artistic production, he has also been active in teaching. In 1981, he joined the Tavira School of Painting as a teacher, contributing to the training of emerging artists and to the development of local cultural life.
