STELA BARRETO
Stela Barreto is a Portuguese artist born in 1957. Her artistic journey began at the age of 13 when she started studying art and painting. She began her professional career as n art teacher at 21 and became a full-time professional artist at 29.
Throughout her career, she has worked as both a painter and art educator, exhibiting her watercolour paintings in various cities across Portugal. At the age of 34, she expanded her artistic practice to include oil painting and later acrylics. Guided by several renowned artists and mentors, she developed her own distinctive artistic expression, eventually focusing on abstract art.
Stela has participated in numerous exhibitions around the world and has received multiple awards for her work. Today, she collaborates with galleries in the Algarve, Lisbon, Porto, and Helsinki. Constantly exploring new forms of expression, Stela experiments with mixed-media techniques and often paints using both hands. She remains actively engaged in her artistic practice, creating new works almost every day.
